Rashford WAR, Salah REPLACEMENT, Van Dijk contract BOMB, Man City PLAN – FootballTransfers recap
As the January transfer window heats up, there has been big news regarding Marcus Rashford, Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Jamie Gittens and a whole lot more…
Barcelona in Rashford war
The Marcus Rashford transfer saga continues to rumble on, with Barcelona in what is being described as a ‘transfer war’ with Borussia Dortmund over the England international.
Frozen out by United, Rashford is widely expected to leave Old Trafford on loan this month after going more than a month without competitive football.
Reports from Spain indicate that BVB have made a formal offer for the winger, who is holding out for a move from Barca. The Catalans, though, are not expected to move unless they can first move on Ansu Fati.
Liverpool can land bargain Salah replacement
Liverpool could land Mohamed Salah’s heir at Anfield for just €22.5 million due to a gentleman’s agreement.
According to Sky Germany, Lyon livewire Rayan Cherki will be allowed to depart for that fee should a bid of that valuation be made.
With Salah’s move to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League “99% completed”, the Reds could seek a January bargain for the flair-packed Frenchman.
Van Dijk in ‘serious contract talks’
Virgil van Dijk is set to depart Liverpool to join Salah at Al-Hilal next season, with interest from the Saudi side heating up.
According to reports from the Gulf, the 33-year-old Van Dijk is in “serious contract talks” with the Saudi side.
“Al-Hilal have begun serious talks with Virgil van Dijk to sign him next summer before the Club World Cup, and according to sources, Al-Hilal president Fahad bin Nafel has already met with the player’s agent in London,” the reports from Al-Jazirah indicate.
Man City planning Diogo Costa move
Manchester City are planning for the departure of long-time goalkeeper Ederson, with Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa being targeted as the No.1 option to arrive at the Etihad Stadium, FootballTransfers has exclusively revealed.
Doubts have been raised about the Brazil international keeper this season, and with the prospect of a giant contract offer from Saudi, Ederson could well be on his way.
Portugal international goalkeeper Costa is the man Pep Guardiola wants to replace him.
Arsenal in line to sign Gittens
Jamie Gittens is set to open the door to a move to Arsenal, having decided to leave Borussia Dortmund if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, according to reports from the German media.
With Nuri Sahin’s side only 10th in the standings and seven-points distant from the top four, the prospect of BVB making Europe’s biggest competition next term seems slim.
