Arsenal and Man Utd receive SHOCK Gyokeres update
Neither Arsenal nor Manchester United are expected to sign Viktor Gyokeres this year, according to a report.
The Swede has emerged as one of Europe's deadliest attackers at Sporting CP, netting an eye-watering 62 goals in 63 games in the calendar year 2024. He started off 2025 with a bang, too, netting a hattrick against Vitoria Guimaraes in a thrilling 4-4 draw.
Given his numbers, Gyokeres has been hailed as the most transformative signing in Portuguese football in at least 20 years and a departure from Lisbon is considered only a matter of time at this point.

Though he has a €100 million release clause, Sporting have agreed to lower their demands to €60m-€70m for the summer to give the 26-year-old the opportunity to get a big move.
Premier League giants Arsenal and Man Utd have been persistently linked with the Swedish sharpshooter in recent months, but it seems that they will end up disappointed.
Arsenal, Man Utd to miss out on Gyokeres?
At least that is according to Sky Germany, which has provided a significant update on Gyokeres' future. For one, he is not planning to leave Sporting in January and will only take his next step in the summer.
Additionally, the report states that a host of clubs are, naturally, interested in the Swede. However, Arsenal are not mentioned among the list of suitors, which appears to confirm that the Gunners will instead pursue Benjamin Sesko - last summer's top target - or Alexander Isak in the next window.

Man Utd, meanwhile, are said to have a concrete interest in Gyokeres, as are Man City and Barcelona, despite an acknowledgement that the latter likely won't be able to afford him as things stand. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the situation, too.
Unfortunately for Man Utd, however, it is claimed that they are currently not among the favourites to land the striker. This can, of course, still change between now and the summer, but it seems that the club's descent into footballing irrelevance, paired with their lack of funds, will make the signing of an elite No.9 difficult.
