Viktor Gyokeres’ agent is set to be a busy man this month, with the Sporting CP striker one of the most in-demand centre-forwards in the game.

Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG are all interested in the hitman, yet Manchester United’s interest in the player has ramped up in recent weeks following the arrival of Ruben Amorim as head coach at Old Trafford.

Hasan Cetinkaya, the player’s agent, has been holding talks with Sporting over Gyokeres’ plans, with the striker doing his bit for the club with a spectacular performance against Vitoria Guimaraes on Friday.

Gyokeres took his personal tally for the season to 30 goals in 28 games as he scored three times for Sporting in a game that finished 4-4, despite the Lisbon club having a two-goal advantage.

“It’s frustrating to score three goals and not win. When a team scored four goals, it’s inconceivably to concede four,” he fumed. “At 3-1 in the second half we had to defend that lead, we didn’t have to play fantastic football but we couldn’t let them get back into the game… we did that and they scored two more. Maybe we relaxed a bit, thinking we had the game won.”

Sporting’s form has suffered a notable dip since Amorim’s departure and Gyokeres’ criticism is certainly not the first time in recent weeks that he has shown himself to be unhappy with the situation.

Viktor Gyokeres’ January transfer plan confirmed

Despite the recent frustration, Gyokeres has assured Sporting that it is not his intention to depart the club during the January transfer window. He has done this via Cetinkaya, with AS reporting that the agent has held talks with the club and told them “firmly” that his desire is to finish the season with the club.

While this represents a blow for PSG, who had prepared to meet Gyokeres’ €100m release clause, it does offer more possibilities for Arsenal, Chelsea and, particularly, Amorim’s Man Utd to lay their summer plans for the striker.
