Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly “pushing” to complete a deal for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi before the January transfer window closes.

The ex-France international is widely expected to secure a Stamford Bridge exit by the end of Deadline Day and he has already reached a full agreement on personal terms with Aston Villa.

However, Unai Emery’s side are yet to finalise a deal with Chelsea, and Tottenham are looking to hijack the transfer amid an injury crisis in north London.

Spurs have already signed Kevin Danso on an initial loan deal from RC Lens, with an obligation to buy for €25 million this summer, but they are also eager to add Disasi to their ranks following Radu Dragusin’s knee injury, which could rule him out until next season.

Micky van de Ven has now returned to first-team training, but the Dutchman isn’t yet available for selection, while Cristian Romero has only made one appearance since mid-October and is unlikely to be match fit for another few weeks.

Disasi has made just six Premier League appearances so far this season, however Tottenham are determined to finalise a potential January deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

“Tottenham are now pushing to agree on Axel Disasi deal with Chelsea as negotiations are ongoing today,” he revealed on social media.

“As reported two days ago, Spurs want two centre backs (Danso first) after Dragusin’s serious injury.

“Aston Villa agreed terms with Disasi but not with Chelsea so far.”

Axel Disasi to leave Chelsea?

News that Tottenham are pushing to finalise a deal for Disasi will be received in a positive light amongst most Chelsea fans.

The Frenchman has struggled for form so far this season and he has been widely criticised whenever he has featured in 2024-25.

Disasi was at fault for Omari Hutchinson’s goal during Chelsea’s shock 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town in late December and he has looked uncomfortable in possession during the majority of his appearances this campaign.
