Christopher Nkunku is now expected to stay at Chelsea for the remainder of the season, despite reported interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

The France international has played a peripheral role at Stamford Bridge so far this campaign and he has been heavily linked with a transfer away from the club during the January transfer window.

Nkunku has only started three Premier League matches since the appointment of Enzo Maresca as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor, but he is set to remain at Chelsea until at least this summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.

He told Sky Sports: “My last information from the last couple of hours is that he will stay at Chelsea, that he will not join FC Bayern, that he will not join Manchester United.”

Nkunku had been touted to join Bayern in exchange for Mathys Tel, but Chelsea have seemingly cooled their interest in the France U21 international and a move away from the Allianz Arena now seems unlikely.

Tottenham end Axel Disasi pursuit

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have ended their interest in Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, despite reaching an agreement to sign the 26-year-old.

Spurs were eager to bring Disasi to the club following a season-ending knee injury to Radu Dragusin, but the Frenchman reportedly rejected a move to north London as he has already agreed personal terms with Aston Villa.

As a result, Tottenham have now pulled out of the race to sign Disasi, with Villa still in talks with Chelsea over a possible loan deal.

The Blues have previously stated that neither Disasi or Joao Felix would be allowed to join Aston Villa on loan as they view Unai Emery’s side as serious competitors for a place in next season’s Champions League.

However, Villa are hoping to reach an agreement with Chelsea as they look to land a new defender after Tyrone Mings’ latest injury setback.
