Chelsea could make massive progress in negotiations over Argentine wonderkid Ian Subiabre 'in the next 24 hours,' according to a report.

The River Plate youngster has caught the eye with his performances for his country. Subiabre starred for Argentina's U20s as they finished runners-up at the recent South American Championship.

Chelsea 'advance' on Subiabre deal

According to Ben Jacobs, the meeting with Subiabre's representatives is set to take place 'in the next 24 hours' to help Chelsea understand the exact conditions of a potential deal.

Intriguingly, Jacobs reports that the talks are driven by Subiabre's camp rather than the West London club. However, Chelsea have shown a willingness to engage in the negotiations after receiving glowing reports on the teenager from scout Alysson Marins.

Signing Subiabre may be a pricey affair for the Blues, though. The report states that it could take as much as €24 million to prise him away from River Plate in the upcoming window.

Either way, Chelsea are 'advancing' in their pursuit of the wonderkid and the upcoming talks with his camp will provide clarity on whether a deal for the summer is feasible.

Subiabre was an unused substitute for River Plate at the weekend against San Martin after returning from international duty. Before suiting up for Argentina's U20s and U17s, the 18-year-old also played for Chile's U17s.
