The Blues have been linked with a move for Mitoma ever since his breakthrough at the AMEX Stadium and they are ready to progress their interest over the next few months amid Mykhailo Mudryk’s provisional suspension for doping.

The Ukraine international has been out of action since the start of December and Chelsea are actively searching for a replacement ahead of the summer transfer window, with Athletic Club superstar Nico Williams also under consideration by the club’s hierarchy.

However, Chelsea are eager to finally bring Mitoma to Stamford Bridge and they will need to pay €80m in order to land the Japan international, according to CaughtOffside.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side are reluctant to lose the 27-year-old, but they will reportedly part company with the winger if Chelsea decide to match their asking price this summer.

Al-Nassr failed with two bids for Mitoma during the January transfer window and the Saudi Pro League have been tipped to return with another offer later this year, meaning Chelsea will face significant competition for his signature.

But, Enzo Maresca’s side are determined to bolster their attacking reinforcements this summer, amid their stuttering recent form in the Premier League, and Mitoma has been identified as a key target, despite the fact he is now 27 years old.
