Harry Kane release clause latest

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has a release clause in his contract with the Bundesliga club that will become active next January.

While this was initially confirmed by Bild, leading to one pundit claiming that Arsenal “WILL” sign the England captain, Romano has delivered an in-depth update and offered a reminder that Tottenham are still in control of the veteran attacker’s destiny.

“There is a release clause in the contract of Harry Kane at Bayern. And trust me, clubs are aware of this and what’s going on in terms of the clause. It’s a clause active in January. There was a release clause this January for €80m and there will be one next January for €65m. It’s only for January,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“What does it mean? It sets the price for Kane. But there’s a good feeling between Kane and Bayern Munich. But in 2026 it could be different, so let’s see what happens.

“Remember, Tottenham have a matching price for him. It doesn’t mean that he has to go to Spurs. It means Tottenham have a match point to close the deal and them it’s up for the player to close the deal.”

Arsenal discussed Morata deal

Romano has confirmed that Arsenal held internal talks over the possibility of signing former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata after he was offered to them by AC Milan.

“One of the strikers offered to Arsenal in the January transfer window - trust me there were many opportunities - one of those names was Alvaro Morata, who left for Galatasaray. With the same conditions, he was offered to Arsenal,” Romano said.

“He had the chance to return to the Premier League after the experience he had with London. Arsenal decided to skip this opportunity, invest in the current squad and then invest fully in a striker and other positions. I expect them to be busy in the midfield.”

Nico O’Reilly: Chelsea still tracking City star

Chelsea’s interest in Manchester City midfielder Nico O’Reilly has not diminished after they failed to land the 19-year-old midfielder in January, Romano says.

“I can guarantee that Chelsea will keep following the player,” Romano said.

“They believe Nico O’Reilly has big talent and big potential. According to my information, they wanted to invest around £20-25m (€24-30m) to sign the player immediately and become the new midfielder for Enzo Maresca.

“ So why did the deal collapse? Because Chelsea were feeling the opportunity of a new Cole Palmer but City said no. They wanted to negotiate in case Chelsea were prepared to offer big money. But they said they wanted a buy-back clause, matching rights or nothing. So for City to keep the control of the player was crucial.

“Chelsea went for a different strategy by signing Mathis Amougou, but Nico O’Reilly remains a player on Chelsea’s radar.”

Joao Felix negotiations forecast

AC Milan will try to drive Chelsea’s price for Joao Felix down, despite failing to agree a purchase option on the Portugal star as part of his loan move.

“The feeling with Milan is that there are room for negotiations with Chelsea in the summer. The buy option clause Joao Felix was quite complicated but the difficult part in terms of time on Deadline Day was the contract. When you do a loan with a buy option, you always have to agree the contract for the player,” Romano said, indicating that it was not agreed.

“But he’s just started at Milan but they’ll decide in the a few months.”

Newcastle join Huijsen race

Newcastle are the latest club seeking to land Bournemouth’s centre-back Dean Huijsen – a race that will be tough to win.

“Chelsea are one of several clubs interested in Dean Huijsen of Bournemouth,” Romano said. “His performances have been fantastic. He’s very calm on the ball, quality in the buildup, not conceding goals. He’s attracting many clubs.

“Chelsea are very interested, Bayern have called to understand the position of the player and Newcastle are showing an interest in Huijsen.

“In case they play in the Champions League, they could invest in a centre-back and Huijsen is one of those players. He has a player in his release clause in the summer.”
