Liverpool could find themselves losing two of their key players to Real Madrid in the near future with reports that the Spanish giants are looking to follow up their interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold with an approach for another Anfield favourite.

Alexander-Arnold looks likely to sign for Real on a free transfer when his contract with Liverpool runs out in the summer, with the 26-year-old still reluctant to commit his future to the Reds despite their title push this season.

Liverpool are still desperate to keep hold of Alexander-Arnold along with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, whose deals also expire at the end of the season, but Arne Slot may see even more of his squad ravaged due to contractual issues.

According to The Times, Liverpool could face interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for Ibrahima Konate, with the centre-back set to enter the final year of his contract and currently stalling on signing a renewal.

Liverpool are understood to have offered Konate fresh terms but there are said to be ‘whispers’ over his future due to the arising interest from Real and PSG, who could target the 25-year-old this summer in a cut-price deal.

Konate is believed to be one of three centre-backs on Real’s shortlist this summer and could be a more realistic option for Carlo Ancelotti’s side than William Saliba, with the Arsenal star thought to be their ideal defensive target.

Will Liverpool sell Konate this summer?

Liverpool could feasibly see themselves lose four of Slot’s integral performers over the summer if they fail to agree extensions with any of their stars, although there is hope that Salah and Van Dijk will soon sign new deals.

However, reports in Spain have claimed that an agreement between Real and Alexander-Arnold is virtually complete and it appears a foregone conclusion that the right-back will leave his boyhood club on a free transfer.

Liverpool may then be forced into selling Konate in order to fund the significant investment needed to replace their stars, particularly if the Frenchman indicates he will not sign a new deal.

With Liverpool building an 11-point lead at the top of the Premier League, Slot will be hoping a title will be enough to convince his core group to commit their futures to the club but it appears inevitable that at least one star player will be leaving Anfield this summer.
