Pep Guardiola has ordered Manchester City to pay whatever it takes to re-sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, according to a sensational report from Spain.

Gittens spent two years in Man City’s academy before joining Dortmund on a free transfer in 2020 and he has established himself as one of the world’s most promising youngsters since his arrival in Germany.

The England U21 international has scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and his form has attracted major transfer interest from across Europe.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all monitoring Gittens’ progress in the Bundesliga, with the former currently deemed to be the frontrunners in the race for his signature.

Real Madrid are also interested in signing the 20-year-old, despite their current attacking riches, but they could miss out on a deal as Guardiola has ordered Man City to “pay whatever they have to pay to sign him.”

That is according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, who claim that Dortmund will demand a transfer fee of €100 million to sanction Gittens’ departure this summer.

Real Madrid remain interested in bringing the England wonderkid to the Santiago Bernabeu, but they will not enter a bidding war and they are reportedly set to bank on the potential of Brazilian wonderkid Endrick rather than battle Man City for Gittens.

Jamie Gittens back to Man City?

Guardiola’s desire for Man City to re-sign Gittens in 2025 comes amid a complete overhaul at the Etihad Stadium.

€218m was spent on Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Juma Bah during the January transfer window, and Man City are expected to spend big yet again this summer following a poor campaign by their immensely-high standards.

The reigning Premier League champions are currently fourth in the English top flight table and they are hoping to add Gittens, Florian Wirtz and Andrea Cambiaso to their first-team squad this year.
