Amorim is desperate for additions of quality all over the pitch this summer but there is an acceptance at the club that they will not have the funds to appropriately address all their needs.
Consequently, United will eye budget-friendly deals and that thought process has reportedly led them to monitor Pedro Goncalves, who was an integral part of Amorim’s team at Sporting.
United outlet Theatre of Red claim that Amorim is ‘hugely keen’ on acquiring Goncalves, also known as ‘Pote’, who has primarily featured as a left winger since joining Sporting in 2020.
The 26-year-old has been out since November with a muscular injury but it is believed that United could broker a ‘PSR-friendly’ package with Sporting should the forward recover sufficiently.

Goncalves injury will dictate Sporting future
Goncalves actually spent time at the academies of Valencia and Wolves as a youngster before leaving the Premier League side in to return to Portugal with Famalicao as a 21-year-old, having only made one senior appearance in his career.
