Man Utd can BUY BACK Greenwood as striker’s value doubles

Manchester United put an intriguing transfer option in the deal that took Mason Greenwood to Marseille last summer, it has been revealed.
Greenwood was sold to Marseille last summer for €26 million after he was deemed unsuitable to represent the Old Trafford club following an internal investigation. This came after charges against him, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped.

One of the conditions that Man Utd put in his transfer was that they would retain 50% of the profit of any future transfer, but TeamTalk has revealed that this stake is flexible. In other words, Red Devils have the opportunity to buy back a further portion of his sell-on clause.
United will have periods in which they can increase their stake in the sell-on clause of the player, giving Marseille a refund on their initial outlay at the expense of a future profit via a transfer.
It is said that the Red Devils will be able to secure up to 60% of the profits on Greenwood.
However, there is no question of Greenwood moving back to Man Utd on a permanent basis. Although the Red Devils are crying out for offensive reinforcements, it appears that his chapter at Old Trafford is over, with the 23-year-old said to be enjoying life abroad after a spell with Getafe on loan last term.

A quick move?
Greenwood’s form with Marseille has been so strong that his stay at Stade Velodrome could be a short one. He has 14 goals in 22 appearances for OM, including five penalties.
This has attracted interest from Barcelona, with TeamTalk suggesting that a deal worth in the region of €70m could be possible in the summer.
The player would have to take a wage cut if he were to move to Camp Nou, however.
There have also been rumours of a potential transfer to PSG, although these should be treated with a pinch of salt.
Greenwood’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has risen from around €20m when he signed for Marseille to €43.5m off the back of his strong form with Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
