Antony causes 'total indignation' at Real Madrid amid 'WAR DECLARATION'

Real Madrid believe that Spain's federation has 'declared war' on them after Antony's red card suspension was rescinded.

The Manchester United loanee has been in spectacular form for Real Betis since joining in January, but he took his first misstep against Getafe at the weekend.

The Brazilian was sent off in stoppage time for a rash challenge from behind, although some deemed the red card controversial as Antony barely touched his opponent.

Nevertheless, he was set to be suspended for Real Betis' crunch clash with Real Madrid at the weekend. However, early on Wednesday, news broke that the Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish federation had overruled referee Alberola Rojas and decided to rescind the red card.

According to AS, this has caused 'total indignation' at Real Madrid and even took Real Betis by surprise.

Spanish football 'declares war' on Real Madrid

Los Blancos received news of the decision in Donostia/San Sebastian in the Basque Country as they were preparing for Wednesday night's Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg against Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid, who believe that there has been some sort of refereeing conspiracy against them in recent weeks, responded with outrage. Members of the club's delegation in Donostia thundered: "In their eagerness to go hunting against Madrid, they are even skipping legal arguments.

"Removing a red card that has been clearly assessed by the refereeing body and well explained in the [referee's post-match] report is as if from now on they are going to re-referee the matches.

"They don't hold back, they have done it with the desire to hurt us. They have declared war on us and used all imaginable means, even if they expose the very referees that they claim to defend so much."

“In 24 hours we have witnessed what we can call a hunt for everything that smells of Real Madrid... They attack us by land, sea and air. They don’t hold back. Even so, we will fight to the end with pride. We will not bow our heads in the face of such foolishness.”
