The Gunners were frustrated in their attempts to sign attacking players after seeing long-term injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus in recent times.

Arsenal opted against making any short-term signings, with the club only willing to move for players whom they felt could be a long-term benefit to Mikel Arteta, such as teenage sensation Sverre Halseth Nypan.

The Rosenborg midfielder has been targeted by a number of Premier League clubs after turning 18 in December and Arsenal were reported to have made a concrete approach for the midfielder.

However, Nypan is understood to have rejected a move in order to see out the season with Rosenborg and make an informed decision over his future in the summer.

And GIVEMESPORT have now claimed that Nypan is ‘relieved’ by his choice to reject the Gunners, although he is open to a move to the club in the summer.

Nypan yet to decide preferred choice of transfer

Arsenal attempted to broker a deal worth more than €10 million for Nypan and they allegedly were in advanced talks along with Manchester City’s affiliate club Girona, while Aston Villa also pushed for his signature.

The influx of offers led to Nypan feeling ‘unsure’ over a decision and the 18-year-old opted to take more time to figure out his preferred club, having been scouted by Manchester United in the past also.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is reported to have encouraged his side to make an offer for Nypan, while Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim is said to have been unable to give the youngster assurances of his playing time despite the club’s admiration for him.

Nypan has already made more than 50 appearances for Rosenborg since his debut in 2022 when he became his boyhood club’s youngest ever player, as well as goalscorer in 2023.
