Antony’s form at Real Betis is beginning to cast new light on Manchester United’s inability to get any type of meaningful offensive production from the Brazil international.

Loaned out to Betis in January following a difficult first half to the campaign at Old Trafford in which he scored only one goal, Antony continued his hot streak with his new side on Sunday as they swept past Real Sociedad 3-0 in Seville on Sunday.

FABRIZIO ROMANO TRANSFER UPDATE: Man Utd EMERGENCY, Arsenal deal PROGRESS, Chelsea Maresca SACK

Although the visitors ended the match with just nine men as they saw two red cards, the 24-year-old was their chief tormentor as he won Man of the Match for the third successive game in LaLiga. Indeed, Antony has not claimed the award in all three league matches he has started for the Andalucian side.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been frustrated for the opening 50 minutes of the game before Antony’s volley broke open the fixture. By that stage, he had already won a penalty that Real Sociedad keeper Alex Remiro had stopped and created a chance that saw Jesus Rodriguez hit the post.

Substitute Marc Roja might have picked the visitors off in the closing stages by scoring twice but it was the Brazilian who had done the work to wear them down in the first place.

Antony: I’m happy at Real Betis

Last week, Antony's agent had indicated that Spanish football suits the €95 million former Ajax man more than the Premier League.

Now the player himself has said that being happy with his role in the Betis side has been key to unlocking his extraordinary form.

“I think the most important thing is to be happy. I am happy here. Things happen naturally. I am very happy to score and help the team,” he said, according to El Desmarque.

“I'm very happy with the game we played. We knew it was very important to win today and that's how we continue to gain confidence.”

The comments made by Antony’s agent suggest the player will be seeking to leave Man Utd in the summer but he did leave the door open to the player staying at Old Trafford.
