Aston Villa have reached a full agreement to sign Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford on loan until the end of the season.

The England forward has been linked with an Old Trafford exit for the entirety of the January transfer window and Villa look set to complete a loan deal amid serious competition from Barcelona and AC Milan.

Rashford hasn’t featured for Man Utd since their 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League back in mid-December and he has been excluded from the Red Devils’ matchday squad in 11 of their last 12 matches across all competitions.

FootballTransfers understands that Barcelona were extremely interested in finalising a move for the 27-year-old, but he is now on the verge of joining Aston Villa on a six-month loan deal.

Unai Emery’s side have been in talks to land Rashford for several days and a full agreement has been reached, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert posted on X: “Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, here we go! Agreement in place on loan deal with over 70% salary covered by Villa.

“Buy option clause worth £40m also included in contract with potential three year and half deal to follow. Medical booked today.”

Rashford still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current Man Utd contract, but he recently admitted that he is “ready for a new challenge” and a loan move to Villa could help him rediscover his best form.

What has Ruben Amorim said about Marcus Rashford?

After Man Utd’s 1-0 win over Fulham on 26 January, Ruben Amorim insisted that Rashford must change his attitude if he wants to be reintroduced into the fold at Old Trafford.

“It's always the same reason - the training, the way I see a footballer should do in life. It's every day, every detail,” Amorim admitted when asked why Rashford wasn’t selected.

“If things don't change, I will not change. It's the same situation for every player, if you do the maximum and right things we can use every player.

“You can see on the bench we miss a bit of pace on the bench, but I would put [Man Utd goalkeeper coach Jorge] Vital before a player who doesn't give the maximum every day.”

However, Rashford is now on the verge of leaving the Red Devils, with Aston Villa acting swiftly to finalise a deal following Jhon Duran’s €77 million move to Al-Nassr.
