Man Utd 'in disarray' as Amorim left with 'Championship level' strikers

Manchester United have been left with a 'Championship level' strike force after offloading Marcus Rashford, according to Jamie O'Hara.

On Sunday, Aston Villa announced that they had snapped up the England international on an initial loan, although they can make the deal permanent for around €48 million in the summer.

Rashford left their boyhood club Man Utd after being banished by head coach Ruben Amorim for his poor training performances. The Red Devils were keen to get rid of the 27-year-old due to his huge wages.

However, Man Utd will struggle to sign an adequate replacement this late in the window. Deals for Mathys Tel and Christopher Nkunku collapsed and despite fresh links with Liam Delap, a move seems highly unlikely with just a few hours to go until the deadline.

It means that Man Utd will only be able to rely on Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund (and potentially youngster Chido Obi-Martin) as their No.9 options as well as wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo.

With the exception of Diallo, the offensive output of these players has left a lot to be desired this term and Man Utd fans are right to feel aggrieved about the club's lack of business.

Indeed, former Premier League player Jamie O'Hara believes that Man Utd's failure to adequately replace Rashford has left the club 'in disarray' as they are now stuck with a 'Championship level' attack.

"Marcus Rashford could embarrass Manchester United and Ruben Amorim," he told Sky Sports. "I don't blame everything on Amorim, if he's got a player there that doesn't want to be involved and saying he wants to leave, what choice does he have?

"I think Manchester United wanted him off the wage bill and I think he needed a fresh start. Let's see what Rashford does but let me tell you that Man United are in disarray, their forward line is Championship level and nowhere near good enough.

"Zirkzee should not have a United shirt on, Amad's been the only bright spark, Garnacho has been poor and Hojlund doesn't look like he can hit a barn door. So for me, they have let their best striker go. If Aston Villa get the best out of him, Man United could be left with egg on their face."
