Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has slammed his former club for making “poor decision after poor decision” over the last decade.

The Red Devils have failed to win the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, despite spending over €2 billion on new signings during that time, and they are currently languishing down in 13th place in the English top flight table.

Ruben Amorim has lost eight of his 20 matches in charge and the club were only able to add Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven during the January transfer window, despite their desire to sign a new centre forward.

In fact, Man Utd’s woes in the transfer market date back years, with Mason Mount, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund among the big-money signings to have flopped since their arrivals at Old Trafford.

Their recent business has been widely slammed by a number of ex-players and Giggs is the latest to criticise his former club.

What has Ryan Giggs said?

During Q&A this week, Giggs admitted (via Manchester Evening News): “Like any business, recruitment needs to be right and hasn't been for the last ten years. We've just made poor decision after poor decision.”

However, despite Man Utd’s ineffective transfer dealings over the past few years, Giggs believes that Amorim is the right man for the Red Devils job.

“We're in a bad place at the moment but, first of all, I have to say I actually really like the manager. Given a chance and given time, Amorim will bring success back,” the Man Utd legend admitted.

“If we get the right players in and the manager gets time, we will be OK. But at the moment, we are miles off it. We're nowhere near - a long, long way behind - but it can soon turn around.

“We've tried giving managers a little bit of time but now he needs a bit longer - three or four transfer windows, I think. It's whether he gets the players he needs, the support he needs, the time.”
