Manchester United have been told exactly what they must do to sign top summer target Victor Osimhen.

The Red Devils desperately need an elite No.9 to fix their scoring woes and, in addition to Viktor Gyokeres, the Nigerian sharpshooter has emerged as one of the priority options for the Old Trafford outfit.

Osimhen has been scoring for fun since joining Galatasaray on loan from parent club Napoli, netting 19 times and providing five assists in 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Man Utd have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old in recent days, with some reports going so far as to suggest that they have already made Osimhen a verbal contract offer.

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed on Tuesday that the interest from Man Utd is not quite as advanced yet. Indeed, due to Ruben Amorim's side likely missing out on Champions League football and struggling financially, it is not guaranteed that they will be able to land either Osimhen or Gyokeres.

Osimhen's one wish

During an appearance on Viva el Futbol, with his quotes relayed by Fanpage.it, Romano also revealed the deciding factor in the Osimhen saga that will develop in the summer: money.

"The player's interest is to maintain the economic conditions of the agreement he had with Napoli for €11, €12 million net per season," Romano is quoted as saying. "I know this 100%, and whoever gives it to him, will sign him.

"Last summer, there was a lot of talk about Chelsea but the English club never proposed that money: they offered €7m-€8m per season. That was the real problem. But I repeat, whoever puts the offer on the table that is considered best from an economic point of view will get Osimhen's 'yes.'"

"He was ready to go to Saudi Arabia. Al-Ahli were about to close the deal on the last day of the [summer] transfer market, but Napoli got tempted and raised the price. An agreement was not reached and Al-Ahli took Ivan Toney.

"Osimhen's desire was to go to Saudi Arabia where he would have safeguarded his contract. Osimhen's is mainly an economic issue. For example, he would have gone to Paris, he would have gone to Paris Saint-Germain in a hurry." But that deal never materialised either.

It remains to be seen if Man Utd, in their current economic position, can afford to match Osimhen's hefty demands in addition to paying his €75m release clause.
