Whopping Xavi Simons price set as Man Utd battle Liverpool and Man City

RB Leipzig have slapped a whopping €100 million price tag on Xavi Simons for the summer, according to a report.
To the surprise of many, the Dutchman had his loan from PSG to Leipzig made permanent in January. It had previously been entirely up in the air if the Bundesliga would be able to keep Simons beyond this season.
However, the Red Bulls laid all doubts to rest when they showed themselves willing to shell out a club-record €50 million, with the deal potentially rising as high as €80m due to bonuses, although they have been described as 'difficult to achieve.'

Despite his signing, it is no secret that Simons' love affair with Leipzig may not be a long-term thing. He has only signed a contract until 2027 as Leipzig anticipate high-profile interest in his services in upcoming transfer windows.
Indeed, the Germans could sell the 21-year-old as early as this summer, but they aren't desperate to cash in on him.

Leipzig set hefty Simons price
Benjamin Sesko is expected to leave Leipzig, while Castello Lukeba is also said to be gunning for a new challenge. These two would bring in more than enough funds to help the club balance the books as Leipzig usually target one big sale per summer window.
They are therefore confident that they won't have to sell Xavi in the next transfer period and have slapped a prohibitive €100 million price tag on his head, according to Sport. If someone were to match that demand, they would have no choice but to engage even if only reluctantly.

In recent days and weeks, it has been claimed that Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool have all been keeping tabs on the attacking midfielder's situation with a view to a potential move in the summer.
Man Utd won't be able to afford Simons at that price, while Liverpool may be reluctant to shell out that much. Man City, meanwhile, are coming off a €218m January spending spree, but they still feel secure with regard to the Premier League's financial regulations.
The Cityzens are said to view Simons as an ideal successor to Kevin de Bruyne, who is out of contract in the summer.
