Mika Biereth continued his red-hot start to life at Monaco with another hattrick on Friday, once again calling into question Arsenal's decision to sell him.

The Denmark youth international has been hogging the headlines in France since his January transfer from Sturm Graz to Monaco. Biereth has been nothing short of sensational for the Principality club and he made history against Stade Reims on Friday.

The 22-year-old notched all three goals in Monaco's comfortable 3-0 win against the Ligue 1 strugglers. Incredibly, it was Biereth's third consecutive hattrick at Monaco's home ground after also netting three times against Nantes and Auxerre.

It took his overall goal tally to 10 goals in his first seven Ligue 1 appearances, breaking Zlatan Ibrahimovic's record of nine in seven. According to GFFN, he also became the first player in 70 years to score three hattricks in his first seven games in the French top flight.

Moreover, Biereth has become the first Monaco player in 50 years to score three hattricks in the same season - again, he's done it in just seven Ligue 1 games and 10 appearances across all competitions!

Arsenal regrets multiply

Of course, Biereth's stunning impact at Monaco once again shines the spotlight on Arsenal's decision to sell him permanently to Graz for just €9 million last summer.

The Gunners' season has come unstuck in part due to their failure to sign a reliable No.9 last year after being snubbed by top target Benjamin Sesko.

The fact that they had Biereth on their books and discarded him without ever giving him a proper chance to perform in the senior team must go down as a major blunder.

Former Arsenal loan chief Ben Knapper recently compared him to none other than Viktor Gyokeres, so people at the club always knew that Biereth had the talent.

Of course, nobody could have predicted Arsenal's current injury crisis, but it does boggle the mind that Biereth left North London permanently without making a single first-team appearance under Mikel Arteta.
