The Italian was responsible for the signings of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Jan Oblak and many others during his lengthy spell at the Wanda Metropolitano, and he is expected to lead Arsenal’s pursuit of a new centre forward this summer.

Ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Fulham on Tuesday, Arteta was asked about his first impressions of Berta.

“The first words [of Berta] were winning, improving, demanding. His drive and will to win is going to be very contagious,” the Gunners boss told reporters.

“He is a big addition to the club. A team that is already formed with a lot of great people. Richard [Garlick] leading it, but also James [King], Jason [Ayto] - a lot of people that have been doing such great work. It's about building that chemistry

“I believe Josh [Kroenke] was fully involved in the process as well, so we are all very excited to have him.”
