The Blues have already finalised the signings of Dario Essugo, Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez, Mike Penders and Geovany Quenda (arriving in 2026) ahead of the summer window, and they are hoping to conduct the majority of their summer deals, both ins and outs, before July.

That is according to The Athletic, who report that Chelsea will prioritise the acquisition of a new centre forward and a new right-footed winger this summer.

Maresca’s side have been heavily linked with a move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap over the past few months, while Nico Williams (Athletic Club) and Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund) are among their winger targets.

Furthermore, Chelsea are reportedly aiming to trim down their squad to a group of 23-24 outfield players next season, with the club also focusing on offloading a number of current stars on permanent deals.

Axel Disasi, Carney Chukwuemeka, Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix and Ben Chilwell are among those expected to be sold by Chelsea when the 2025 summer window opens, while Renato Veiga, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Christopher Nkunku and Trevoh Chalobah have also been linked with permanent departures.

Chelsea plan summer transfer overhaul

A key reason why Chelsea are hoping to complete their transfer business before the end of June is because of their participation in the 2025 Club World Cup.

If the Blues reach the final of the tournament, which is scheduled to be held on 13 July, players will only return from their post-season holidays with one or two weeks to prepare for the new Premier League season.

As a result, Chelsea want any new signings to be involved in training sessions at the Club World Cup in order to learn Maresca’s tactics before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
