Chelsea are reportedly “pushing” to finalise an agreement to sign Gremio youngster Gabriel Mec after missing out on his signature last summer.

Enzo Maresca’s side held meaningful talks over a potential move for the Brazilian wonderkid in 2024, however Mec opted to snub significant interest from the Blues in order to remain with his boyhood club.

Despite this, Chelsea are still eager to purchase the 16-year-old and they are “pushing hard” to arrange a deal to bring Mec to Stamford Bridge in 2026, according to TBR Football.

Fellow Brazilian teenager Estevao Willian will arrive in west London this summer, but Chelsea have identified Mec as a key transfer target amid their search for the best young talents in world football.

Like Estevao, Mec has also been described as “the next Neymar” and he has been widely tipped to secure a high-profile transfer to Europe when he turns 18.

Mec is currently happy to remain at Gremio, however Chelsea are eager to complete a deal, while Barcelona have also initiated talks with the Brazilian, as per TBR Football.

The 16-year-old has only made two senior appearances for Gremio, but his performances at youth level have attracted interest from both Barcelona and Chelsea, and a big-money deal could be agreed shortly.

Chelsea agree Denner Evangelista transfer

In addition to their pursuit of Mec, Chelsea have also finalised an agreement to sign Denner Evangelista in 2026.

The Corinthians defender will officially move to Stamford Bridge when he turns 18 next year, with Maresca’s side set to pay an initial €10 million, plus €4m in potential add-ons.

Denner will sign a contract that runs until 2032 and the move is set to be formally announced soon.

The left-back has scored four goals and provided one assist in 18 matches for Corinthians’ U18 side so far this season.
