Lamine Yamal has reportedly urged Barcelona to sign FC Porto forward Samu Aghehowa as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

The Blaugrana are widely expected to sign a new striker during the 2025 summer transfer window and Yamal believes that Aghehowa is perfectly suited to joining the Camp Nou side, according to El Nacional.

The Spanish outlet claim that Yamal is pushing Barcelona to complete a deal for the 20-year-old as he believes Aghehowa is “destined to be the great Spanish striker of the next decade.”

Hansi Flick’s side have taken Yamal’s feedback onboard and they are reportedly eyeing a possible summer deal for the Porto star, with Aghehowa set to spend a season learning under Lewandowski’s wing before becoming a regular in the starting XI if he joins Barcelona.

Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Jonathan David have all been heavily touted to secure a Camp Nou move this summer, but Aghehowa has seemingly emerged as a priority target for Barcelona following Yamal’s transfer plea.

Barcelona to face major Samu Aghehowa competition

Despite Barcelona’s interest in Aghehowa, they are set to face intense battle for his signature during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Aghehowa, who has scored 20 goals in 32 appearances for Porto since his arrival from Atletico Madrid last summer, was on the verge of joining Chelsea in 2024 and the Blues are expected to rekindle their interest later this year.

Furthermore, Arsenal, Aston Villa and West Ham United have all been linked with a move for the Spain forward recently, while Manchester United have previously been touted as potential suitors.

Aghehowa has just over four years remaining on his contract at Porto and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at a whopping €70.2 million.
