Liverpool reportedly remain interested in signing Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, although they are unlikely to complete a deal during the 2025 summer transfer window.

Colwill, 22, has been linked with a move to Anfield for several years and Arne Slot’s side have rekindled their interest in the England international, according to TEAMtalk, as they look to sign a player capable of playing at centre-back and left-back.

Andrew Robertson has played a key role yet again this campaign, although Liverpool are looking to sign a long-term replacement for the Scotland star and Colwill is one of their top targets.

However, Liverpool don’t believe that Chelsea will sanction a sale this year and they could therefore pursue a move in 2026. Colwill was recently named as one of Enzo Maresca’s “untouchables” at Stamford Bridge and the Blues are expected to rebuff Liverpool’s interest in the Cobham academy graduate.

Colwill has over four years remaining on his current contract at Chelsea, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at a career high of €55.4 million.

Liverpool’s summer transfer plans

While Colwill would provide cover at both centre-back and left-back, Liverpool are also looking at more specialist options across the two positions, with Milos Kerkez, Antonee Robinson, Dean Huijsen and Marc Guehi being monitored by the Reds, as per TEAMtalk.

Chelsea have also been linked with Kerkez, Huijsen and Guehi, however, with Liverpool set to face significant competition this summer.

Meanwhile, Slot’s side are set to prioritise the signing of a new forward during the 2025 summer window as they look to offload Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabia.

Newcastle United superstar Alexander Isak has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, although FootballTransfers understands he could be tempted to sign a contract extension at St James’ Park.
