Manchester United hold the key to opening the door for Canada ace Jonathan David to make his perfect move in the summer transfer window – but that would not be to Old Trafford.
David has been linked with a host of top Premier League clubs in recent weeks as his contract at Lille runs out in the summer.

In the latest update on his future, Man Utd are linked with the Canada international along with Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle by CaughtOffside.
Despite this, a move to Crystal Palace is the optimum option for the 25-year-old, according to data firm SciSports, which uses a Career Advice algorithm to rate destinations for players. This is done based on many different factors, from development and playing time to style and formation.
Man Utd could open the door to this move by signing Jean-Philippe Mateta from the Palace, a rumour that is increasingly gaining traction.

David is an attractive option for a host of leading clubs, with his pace, technique and finishing ability having seen him top 15 Ligue 1 goals for Lille in each of the last three season. He is on course to do so again, having hit the net 12 times in France’s top-flight.
Crystal Palace standout as the best option for the hitman, even ahead of the more illustrious clubs thought to be on his tail as he hurtles towards free agency.

There is a blend of playing time and development that would be missing at other top clubs, while Palace also have both a playing style and formation that he can fit neatly into.
