They will have to balance the books by the end of the season’s financial year on June 30 and Cambiaso is the player they will probably have to sacrifice.

Juventus will start the bidding process at €60 million, and hope that Liverpool, Bayern and Man City drive the price up.

City are favourites for Cambiaso’s signature having already been close to signing the Italian in January. They will return for another bid.

Bayern are also big admirers and their interest will now be heightened by the loss of Alphonso Davies to an ACL tear.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have joined the race as they search for a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will almost certainly join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Arsenal have been linked to Cambiaso but not by Gazzetta.

Cambiaso is a tactically very flexible and unorthodox player, who can interpret multiple positions and roles on the pitch.

Naturally, he is a both-footed full-back or wing-back who can play on either side. But he has also played as a winger and as a central midfielder for Juventus.

As a full-back, he loves to get forward and to invert by cutting inside and joining the centre of the field as a playmaker. He is technically excellent, creative and a good dribbler.

He can occasionally switch off, be too laidback and take unnecessary risks, leading to a few costly mistakes this season, but his ceiling for growth is high.

Cambiaso joined Juventus from Genoa in 2022 and after a season on loan at Bologna has established himself as one of Serie A’s best full-backs.

He has also been capped 13 times by Italy, scoring two goals. He played for Italy at Euro 2024.
