Manchester United are interested in Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao, according to a report.

The 25-year-old has had a very up-and-down career to date. Trincao emerged as a hugely exciting talent at Braga and was snapped up by Barcelona for an eye-watering €31 million in 2020.

However, he never managed to properly settle in Catalunya and joined Premier League sides Wolves on loan after just one season. He also struggled to perform in England, prompting a return to Portugal in 2022.

After an initial loan to Sporting CP in 2022, his stay was made permanent a year later. Trincao hugely benefitted from Ruben Amorim's coaching in Lisbon. He has become an increasingly crucial part for his side and is even beginning to show his talents on the international stage.

The versatile attacker came off the bench for Portugal and netted a late equaliser against Denmark on Sunday before scoring again in extra time en route to an important 5-2 Nations League win.

Amorim wants Trincao

According to The Mirror, Amorim is keen to reunite with the 25-year-old at Man Utd as he wants the club to bring in a winger 'he trusts.' It was already reported earlier this month that Trincao had emerged as a target for the Red Devils.

The report states that Man Utd are far from the only side keen on the Portuguese. It is asserted that Arsenal and Newcastle have also taken a liking to Trincao.

The Sporting star has netted nine goals and provided 15 assists so far at club level this season. Man Utd want to add a winger this summer as Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are all expected to leave the club.

All three are currently out on loan and do not have a future at Old Trafford. Amorim believes that this new, more mature iteration of Trincao has what it takes to finally be successful in English football.
