Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko feature on Manchester United's No.9 shortlist, according to German media.

The Red Devils are scrambling to bring in summer reinforcements after what is shaping up to be their worst Premier League season in history. Rasmus Hojlund, who ended his months-long scoring drought against Leicester on Sunday, and Joshua Zirkzee have failed to impress this term.

17-year-old Chido Obi has already been given opportunities by Ruben Amorim due to the more senior strikers failing to perform, so it is abundantly clear that Man Utd need to add a centre-forward.

The well-known problem the Old Trafford club face is, of course, that they don't really have money to spend. Despite this, Man Utd are assembling a shortlist of very pricey, elite options for the upcoming window.

Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, who will both cost in the region of €70 million to €75m, are two of Man Utd's top targets, but they are far from the only names under consideration.

Man Utd eye Ekitike and Sesko

According to Sky Germany, Man Utd have also taken a liking to Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and RB Leipzig wonderkid Benjamin Sesko. The latter was already a target last summer, but it is thought that he favours a move to Arsenal.

Ekitike has managed to revive his career at Frankfurt after being banished by PSG. The 22-year-old has done an adequate job of replacing Omar Marmoush in recent weeks and is expected to leave the Bundesliga in the summer.

Similarly, Sesko is likely to leave Leipzig after surprisingly opting to stay last year. The 21-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions this term, while Ekitike has found the net 19 times.

However, these two Bundesliga hotshots are expected to be even more expensive than Gyokeres and Osimhen. Notoriously tough negotiators Frankfurt have slapped an €80m price tag on Ekitike.

As for Sesko, it was recently revealed that he once again has a variable release clause that increases based on his performances just like last season. His price currently stands at €70m but is expected to have risen to €80m by the end of the campaign.
