Chelsea are reportedly expected to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal, despite possessing the option to send him back to Manchester United this summer.

Sancho joined the Blues on a season-long loan deal in August, with the west London giants including an obligation to buy for a fee worth around €30 million if they finish inside the top 14 places in the Premier League table this season.

However, a new revelation has revealed that Chelsea will have the option to pay a fee to Man Utd in order to remove this clause from Sancho’s deal and allow him to return to Old Trafford.

Despite this, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has firmly stated that Sancho will not rejoin Man Utd this summer.

“It’s true that Chelsea can pay a fee to Manchester United and not proceed with the obligation to buy for Jadon Sancho,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“It’s the reality, but it’s not the intention. From day one Chelsea signed Sancho from Man Utd on loan with an obligation to buy because they want to keep Sancho and Sancho wants to be at Chelsea.

“So that’s the idea and that’s the view and obviously Man Utd don’t want Sancho back. That’s the clear indication on Jadon Sancho.”

Sancho has scored two goals and provided six assists in 28 appearances for Chelsea, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €36.2m.

The former England international endured a torrid spell at Man Utd and he recently ignited his feud with the club by commenting: “Freedom” on a social media post by Marcus Rashford, referencing his option that his compatriot had ‘escaped’ Old Trafford by joining Aston Villa on loan.

Although Chelsea are set to sign Sancho on a permanent deal, the imminent arrivals of Estevao and Geovany Quenda may impact his future game time at Stamford Bridge.
