Chelsea have moved to strengthen their squad with the signing of Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP.
While it isn’t clear exactly how much the Blues have paid for the 17-year-old winger – estimates range from €40-52 million – what is evident is that they have added another young player of enormous potential to their ranks.

This is unlikely to go down well with Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, who was desperate to sign the youngster, but Quenda’s signature is another sign that Chelsea are well futureproofed.
Indeed, BlueCo’s squad is slowly starting to come together and by the time Quenda has settled in for a year, they could have a very formidable looking setup indeed.
The Portuguese youngster will only hook up with the team in 2026, arriving in a deal similar to those that have seen Kendry Paez and Willian Estevao agree deals before moving months or even years later.

How Chelsea will line up in 2028
Goalkeeper: Mike Penders
The 19-year-old Belgian will hook up with Chelsea in the summer after finishing his time with Genk. He is a highly promising prospect.
Right-back: Josh Acheampong
After fighting so hard to keep the young full-back, expect him to have forced his way past Reece James and Malo Gusto to claim the starting berth in three years.
Centre-back: Aaron Anselmino
Currently acclimatising to life in England and expected to move out on loan in the summer. Given a couple more years, the Argentine will hope to be a starter.
Centre-back: Levi Colwill
The academy graduate is surely at Stamford Bridge for the long term.
Left-back: Marc Cucurella
Impressive under Enzo Maresca, Cucurella can hold down this role in the long term but will surely come under pressure at some stage.
Central midfield: Moises Caicedo
Developing into one of the Premier League’s best and ahead of Enzo Fernandez, who could be on his way in the next year or two.
Central midfield: Andrey Santos
Impressing on loan at Strasbourg and could become the posterboy for that development pathway at Chelsea.
Right wing: Willian Estevao
Yet to join the Stamford Bridge side but huge things are expected of Brazilian. His greatest challenge will be settling into a new culture.
Attacking midfielder: Cole Palmer
Going nowhere for the foreseeable future unless there is a major surprise.
Left wing: Geovany Quenda
Another year in Portugal to mature is perhaps the ideal situation for the teenager, who will be in his second season at Stamford Bridge at this point in three years.
Centre forward: Liam Delap
Chelsea are favourites to land the Ipswich hitman, with Nicolas Jackson under pressure after his excellent start to the season.
