Juventus wish to sign more Italians going forward - and Tonali is the top target to kick off this Italian revolution.

On the face of it, this move appears like an improbable deal.

Could Tonali to Juventus happen?

Tonali is valued by Newcastle at over €70 million, a price Juventus simply cannot afford.

But a transfer to Juventus is not completely out of the question.

For starters, Tonali would like to return to Italy sooner rather than later. This is no secret, with the Italian missing his homeland having never wanted to leave Milan in 2023, and it is only a matter of time until he moves back to Serie A.

Newcastle do not want to sell Tonali but a few factors may force them to do so.

If they fail to qualify for the Champions League, one of their three star players of Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Tonali will probably have to be sacrificed in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Given Tonali’s desire to return to Italy, this may be the best option for Newcastle to sacrifice.

Juventus are also prepared to offer Douglas Luiz plus around €40m in cash for Tonali.

While Luiz has been a disaster at Juve, he was one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League only a year ago.

This potentially would not be bad business for Newcastle to have a ready-made replacement for Tonali plus a significant amount of cash to go with it.

It should also be noted that the relationship between Newcastle and Juventus is good after the Italians signed Lloyd Kelly this January.

The price was very over inflated with Juventus paying up to €24m for a player who was a Newcastle reserve.

It has been suggested that this may have been done so that Juventus will be favoured for a summer Tonali deal.

Juventus would have to qualify for the Champions League themselves for this transfer to be possible, and the Bianconeri are currently fourth with six games to play - only two points inside the UCL zone.

But if Juventus do make the Champions League then don’t rule out this transfer from potentially happening.
