Victor Osimhen is reportedly unlikely to join Arsenal this summer, despite rumours linking him with a big-money move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Nigeria international is almost guaranteed to leave Napoli on a permanent deal upon the conclusion of his loan spell at Galatasaray and multiple Premier League clubs have been tipped to seriously pursue a transfer.

Chelsea were on the verge of signing Osimhen last summer, and could rekindle their interest, while Manchester United are expected to battle for the 26-year-old’s signature as they look to sign a new centre forward amid the recent struggles of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Arsenal have also initiated contact with Osimhen’s representatives, as per multiple reports, although Charles Watts has poured cold water on rumours linking the Nigerian with a move to north London.

The Arsenal journalist told CaughtOffside: “I’m always a bit sceptical when I hear of links between Victor Osimhen and Arsenal.

“There was some interest in him a few years ago, but I’ve not heard anything since then to suggest the constant speculation linking the Nigerian striker with a move to North London has much merit to it.

“He’s a top striker, there’s no doubt about that, but Arsenal have others who are well ahead of him in their list of potential summer targets, if he is even on their list of targets at all.”

Arsenal want Benjamin Sesko

Although a move for Osimhen appears unlikely, FootballTransfers understands that RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko remains a key transfer target for Arsenal.

The Slovenia international will be available for a fee of €80 million this summer, due to a release clause in his Leipzig contract, and we have been informed that Arsenal are still leading the race for his signature, despite competition from multiple top Premier League clubs.
