Chelsea have suffered a major transfer blow after being told that Barcelona ‘want absolutely nothing to do’ with one of their unwanted stars that the club are desperate to sell this summer.

The Blues are gearing up for yet another eventful summer that will see a number of players available for transfer despite being big money acquisitions in recent years.

No transfer perhaps sums up Chelsea’s predicament more than Joao Felix, who, once again, finds himself in transfer limbo, having only signed for the club last summer for €52 million.

But just months after penning a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, Felix found himself out in the cold and was loaned out to Milan in January in a move which has only seen the 25-year-old’s stock decline even more.

Felix is set to return to Chelsea this summer, with Milan having no desire to extend his stay in Italy, and Enzo Maresca’s side had been hoping to convince Barcelona to take another chance on the forward after his loan spell with the club last season.

However, El Nacional report that Barca boss Hansi Flick feels there is ‘absolutely nothing he can do’ with Felix and would veto the Portuguese international’s arrival even ‘for free’, marking a dramatic fall from grace for the former wonderkid.

Chelsea likely to finance cost of Felix summer exit

Felix made just three Premier League starts for Chelsea in the first half of the season before moving to Milan, where he has failed to score or assist in 13 appearances since netting on his debut.

The player’s agent Jorge Mendes has continued to offer Felix to a number of clubs including Barca but there have been no takers so far, with Chelsea’s only solution likely to be a free loan move where they would also have to cover a portion of his wages.

The likes of West Ham and Wolves are thought to be interested in such an option if Chelsea do go down that route but the Blues are still hopeful they can find a permanent exit for the player such as in Saudi Arabia or his native Portugal.

But the club’s reckless transfer business appears to be backfiring, with Felix not alone in having no long-term future at Chelsea despite his long-term contract, leaving the Blues counting the cost of their poor judgement in the market.
