Barcelona launch Rashford bid as star rejects chance to double his wage in the Premier League

Barcelona are ready to make a move for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford – but the first offer of the Catalan side is unlikely to go down well at Old Trafford.
Rashford has been sent on loan to Aston Villa by head coach Ruben Amorim after falling out of favour with the Portuguese shortly after he arrived at the club.
The 27-year-old has had something of a resurgence in his form since moving to Villa Park but was benched as Unai Emery’s side crushed Newcastle United 4-1 on Saturday to enhance their prospects of reaching the Champions League again next season.
Villa have a purchase option in the loan deal worth €47 million (£40m), but Champions League football is likely to be necessary to make Rashford a viable purchase due to his big wages. If the Birmingham side do not take advantage of this, Barcelona are planning to move, according to Fichajes.
While this is a welcome development for Man Utd, the €40m that the Camp Nou side are planning on giving the Red Devils will be less welcome given they will want a whole lot more for Rashford. The winger has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €58.6m.
Meanwhile, it is claimed that Rashford ‘dreams’ of playing for Barcelona, which is naturally an attractive destination for a player who has fallen on hard times lately.

Fermin Lopez rejects Newcastle move
While the Rashford case is developing, Barcelona are poised to retain one of their most promising young players, with Fermin Lopez ready to turn down a big-money offer from the Premier League.
The midfielder has been offered the opportunity to double his wages at Newcastle United but has instead chosen to remain at Barcelona, where he has both stability and playing time, El Nacional reports.
Under contract until 2027, Fermin is seen as an increasingly important player for Barcelona’s future and has no intention of departing as a consequence.
