The five best Premier League transfers of the season

Premier League clubs spent big yet again during the 2024 summer transfer window, although no deal came close to the €100 million mark amid concerns over breaching PSR and FFP regulations.
The majority of big-money signings made last year have failed miserably, although several cheaper stars have impressed greatly since moving clubs last summer.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the five best Premier League transfers of the season.

Lewis Hall - €33m (Chelsea to Newcastle)
Lewis Hall, a boyhood Newcastle United fan, initially joined the Magpies on loan in 2023, but he failed to make a meaningful impact and he mustered just eight Premier League starts all season.
However, the move became permanent for €33 million in July and Hall simply hasn’t looked back since.
He has been arguably the best left-back in the Premier League this season and he earned his first senior England cap in November following a sublime start to the campaign. Chelsea’s decision to sell him was bizarre at the time and it looks extremely foolish now.

David Raya - €31.9m (Brentford to Arsenal)
David Raya is potentially a slightly boring inclusion, due to the fact he was on loan at Arsenal last season, but there were very few successful signings made during the 2024 summer transfer window.
The Spaniard has been a reliable presence in between the sticks for Arsenal and he has remained one of the best goalkeepers in the English top flight since joining the Gunners on a permanent deal.
Raya is still in the hunt for the Premier League Golden Glove and while Arsenal won’t win the title this season, it’s not down to their goalkeeper.
Liam Delap - €17.9m (Man City to Ipswich)
Loan spells at Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull City were fairly unsuccessful for Liam Delap, so Ipswich Town took a slight gamble when they paid just shy of €18m to sign him on a permanent deal from Manchester City.
However, that gamble has paid off big time as Delap has established himself as one of the Premier League's most talented strikers and the logical long-term replacement for Harry Kane in the England set-up.
Delap is almost guaranteed to leave Ipswich this summer, amid interest from every top English club, and the Tractor Boys are set to turn a decent profit thanks to a €35m relegation clause in his current contract.
Dean Huijsen - €15.2m (Juventus to Bournemouth)
Bournemouth were the surprise winners in the race for Dean Huijsen’s signature in 2024 and their €15.2m investment now looks like a masterstroke.
The Spain international has been one of the best centre-backs in Europe this season and he has played a key role in Bournemouth’s ascent up the Premier League table under Andoni Iraola.
Furthermore, the Cherries will earn a whopping €58m when his release clause is triggered by one of several elite clubs interested in him.

Nikola Milenkovic - €12.3m (Fiorentina to Nottingham Forest)
The final player on this list is Nikola Milenkovic, who joined Nottingham Forest from Fiorentina for a measly €12.3m last summer.
After years of excellent performances in Serie A, Milenkovic arrived at The City Ground to provide much-needed defensive protection and he is a huge reason why Forest are in contention to secure Champions League qualification.
His partnership with Murillo has been nearly faultless and the Serbia international deserves his plaudits after a sensational debut campaign in the Premier League.
