He appears to be a player that the Italian does not want to lose, yet rumours continue to circulate that Real Madrid are readying a blockbuster transfer offer. A transfer fee of €100 million has been discussed.

Now Chelsea have been told that pressure could also be exerted from Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone a fan of the player.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, former Argentina midfielder Javier Saviola explained: “Enzo is a star. What he's gained now is his physicality; he's evolved a lot.

“When I first saw him at River Plate, he was a technically very gifted, spectacular player, but now he's added power, mileage, and a lot of aggression. He's tireless and very complete. He would be a great fit for Atlético de Madrid. He's one of those players Cholo Simeone likes, one of those he works with. He's a phenomenon.”

Maresca sends clear Enzo Fernandez message

While transfer rumours continue to surround Enzo’s future, Maresca appears to be set on keeping the 24-year-old player.

“Since we started, he has improved a lot. At first it was a bit difficult for him to understand, but not just Enzo, but all the players, the idea that we wanted,” the Italian told ESPN Argentina back in January.

“Now he is doing very well and he is understanding much better compared to the beginning of the season. He is playing a very important role, we use him in several positions and he does his job in all of them.”

Chelsea made Enzo Fernandez the most expensive player in Premier League history when they signed him from Benfica for €121m in January 2023. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is now €74.2m.
