Christopher Nkunku looks almost guaranteed to leave Chelsea this summer after his woes continued during the Blues’ 0-0 draw against Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

The France international arrived at Stamford Bridge with a world-class reputation, however he has struggled for form and fitness since his move from RB Leipzig, and an exit during the 2025 summer transfer window is certainly on the cards.

Nkunku was heavily linked with a Chelsea departure in January, but Bayern Munich opted against finalising a deal to sign the 27-year-old and he was forced to remain in west London following Joao Felix’s loan move to AC Milan.

However, the Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate seems destined to secure a transfer away from Chelsea this summer.

He has only amassed 907 minutes of Premier League action so far this season and his struggles continued versus Brentford on Sunday.

Christopher Nkunku to leave Chelsea?

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca opted to rest Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella, Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto and Nicolas Jackson ahead of his side’s Europa Conference League quarter-final clash against Legia Warsaw on Thursday, but his team selection backfired immensely.

The Blues produced a lacklustre first-half performance and Maresca opted to aim his frustration at Nkunku, who was hooked at half-time after yet another fairly anonymous display in a Chelsea shirt.

Palmer, Neto and Cucurella were subsequently introduced in the second-half, but it wasn’t enough and Chelsea were forced to settle for a point, which could prove catastrophic in their bid to secure Champions League qualification.

As for Nkunku, his half-time substitution was further proof that his career at Chelsea may be coming to an end.

The Frenchman has featured regularly in cup competitions so far this season, but he has only started nine Premier League matches since the appointment of Maresca and he is set for a prolonged spell as a bench option following Nicolas Jackson’s return to full fitness.
