Ipswich Town sharpshooter Liam Delap will be available for just €35 million due to a relegation release clause, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The England youth international has been the Tractor Boys' best player in what has ultimately been a disappointing return to the Premier League. Ipswich, thanks to their wealthy owners, splashed to cash on signings, but it hasn't been enough to guarantee survival.

In fact, with seven games remaining in the season, Ipswich are staring in the face of an immediate return to the Championship. Wolves managed to extend their lead over Ipswich to 12 points by beating them at the weekend, effectively ensuring their own survival and their opponents' relegation.

Despite his club's struggles, Delap has managed to score a respectable 12 goals this term, which hasn't gone unnoticed. On the contrary, the 22-year-old has become one of the Premier League's hottest commodities thanks to his exploits.

Even if Ipswich had managed to survive, Delap would have been expected to leave the club, but it has now been revealed that they would have at least been able to sell him on their own terms.

Delap has a relegation clause

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is nothing Ipswich can do to prevent Delap from leaving this summer. The transfer insider reports that the striker has a relegation release clause in his contract, which stipulates that he can leave the club for just €35 million.

This explains, then, why so many clubs view him as a perfect, cost-effective alternative to the other high-profile No.9s that will be on the move this summer.

Delap would be way cheaper than the likes of Benjamin Sesko (€70m-€80m), Viktor Gyokeres (€60m-€70m) and Victor Osimhen (€75m), and he is already Premier League-proven despite his young age.

Romano has also confirmed that both Chelsea and Man Utd have Delap on their summer shortlist. It was recently claimed that the Red Devils have made him their top priority for the summer, while it has been known for quite some time that he is the Blues' No.1 target for the centre-forward position.
