CONFIRMED: Chelsea’s Fulham win triggers major summer transfer

Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday has big implications for the Blues’ summer transfer market, with a major summer transfer now locked in as a result.
Late goals from Tyrique George and Pedro Neto helped Enzo Maresca’s side to a well-deserved 2-1 victory but also ensured that the Stamford Bridge side will need to retain Jadon Sancho as they are guaranteed to finish above 15th in the standings.
Sancho was only involved in the match as a substitute, replacing Noni Madueke at half-time.
It was his 34th appearance of the campaign for Chelsea on loan from Manchester United, which seems to seal his future at Stamford Bridge.
Football transfer expert Ben Jacobs tweeted: “Chelsea's win over Fulham means an obligation to buy Jadon Sancho of up to £25m [€29m] has now kicked in. It is triggered providing Chelsea finish above 15th, which is now mathematically guaranteed to be the case.”

Chelsea to address Sancho situation
Sancho has not made the impact that Chelsea would have hoped when they loaned him from United in August, though.
He has returned just three goals in all competitions, and while he has delivered 10 assists, half of these have come in the Conference League – a competition the Blues are much too strong for.
As such, there is every chance they will still send Sancho back to Old Trafford, even if it costs them millions to do so.
Confirmed Chelsea summer signings: 2025
Name | From | Fee |
Estevao | Palmeiras | €34m |
Dario Essugo | Sporting CP | €22m |
Kendry Paez | Independiente | €10m |
As Jacobs explains: “Chelsea can override the obligation by paying Man Utd a fee of £5m [€6m]. Decision whether to keep Sancho will be taken at the end of the season.”
Sancho still has one year left to run on his contract in Manchester. While he is likely to find a more welcoming attitude towards him at the club following Ruben Amorim replacing Erik ten Hag, who he feuded with, the indications are that United would still like to move him on.
