Juventus are reportedly willing to pay €20 million to sign Renato Veiga on a permanent deal this summer, but Chelsea are set to block the deal.

Veiga, 21, joined Juventus on loan during the January transfer window, after failing to break into Enzo Maresca’s favoured starting XI at Stamford Bridge, and the Serie A giants are eager to sign him this summer following an impressive start to life in Italy.

Veiga has nailed down a starting berth at centre-back since his arrival in Turin, his preferred position, and Juventus have won six of the eight matches that he has started in all competitions.

The hierarchy at the Allianz Stadium have been thoroughly impressed by Veiga over the past three months and they are hoping to finalise an agreement with Chelsea over a permanent deal this summer.

However, although Chelsea would be willing to offload the Portugal international ahead of the new season, they will demand a fee of €40m, according to TuttoJuve, which is double the amount that Juventus are currently prepared to offer.

As a result, Veiga appears extremely unlikely to secure a permanent move to the Turin giants unless Chelsea lower their asking price or Juventus agree to submit a higher bid.

Chelsea’s summer transfer plans

Although Veiga may end up returning to Chelsea if Juventus are unable to offer more than €20m, a plethora of current Blues stars are expected to depart Stamford Bridge this summer.

Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi and Carney Chukwuemeka are among the loanees who are likely to be sold once the 2024-25 campaign concludes, while Christopher Nkunku appears destined to leave after being omitted from Chelsea’s matchday squad to face Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

In addition, Trevoh Chalobah, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Benoit Badiashile have also been linked with summer exits as Chelsea look to bring in significant reinforcements to improve the squad at Maresca’s disposal.
