Chelsea make Wesley Fofana transfer decision after ANOTHER injury setback

Chelsea have reportedly identified Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck as a potential transfer target for the summer window amid their pursuit of a new centre-back.
The 24-year-old moved to San Siro for a mere €7.2 million from Aarhus GF in 2023, but he has impressed since joining the Serie A giants and Chelsea are now monitoring his situation under Simone Inzaghi, as per TBR Football.

Enzo Maresca’s side are actively looking to bring a new centre-back to the club this summer, and scouts have reportedly been impressed with Bisseck’s performances for Inter so far this season.
The Blues have also sounded out Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen as key transfer targets, although they have now added Bisseck to their wish-list amid concerns over Wesley Fofana’s future at the club.
The 24-year-old has been extremely injury prone since his arrival at the club and he has now undergone hamstring surgery after yet another setback last week.
As a result of his inconsistent availability, Chelsea are set to sign a new centre-back this summer as they look to find an adequate long-term partner for academy graduate Levi Colwill.

Wesley Fofana’s injury problems at Chelsea
Fofana joined Chelsea for a whopping €80.4m from Leicester City in 2022, but his time at Stamford Bridge has been plagued by injury issues.
The France international missed the majority of his final campaign at the King Power Stadium due to a broken leg, and his woes have worsened since joining Chelsea.
Fofana suffered two knee injuries during his debut season with the Blues, while he then ruptured his ACL in July 2023, which sidelined him for the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign.
This year, Fofana missed three months due to a hamstring issue over the festive period and he then suffered another hamstring injury in April - which has required surgery.
In total, Fofana has missed 96 games through injury since his move to Chelsea. By contrast, he has only played 34 times for the Blues, meaning the Frenchman has so far cost the club €2.36m per appearance.
