Chelsea have stolen a major march over Real Madrid in the transfer market, effectively knocking the Spanish side out of the race for one of their major targets.
Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen has emerged as one of the chief protagonists for the summer after a run of superb form for Andoni Iriola’s side in what is his debut Premier League season.

The new Spain international star has attracted interest from Real Madrid as well as Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, but according to a report from AS, Chelsea have pushed themselves to the front of the queue to sign the 20-year-old.
Chelsea are ready to pay Huijsen’s release clause at Bournemouth, which is worth €60m (£50m).
Not only this, the Blues are ready to do so early in the summer as they want the former Juventus and Roma star in their squad to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are prepared to offer Huijsen a seven-year contract in line with the policy of BlueCo to hand their stands lengthy deals to attract them to Stamford Bridge.

It is the Blues’ willingness to meet the release fee of Huijsen, though, that is thought to have been decisive in this operation. Real Madrid do not want to pay so lavishly for him, particularly following the rise of Raul Asencio in recent months.
Indeed, Los Blancos still appear to have one eye on stealing William Saliba from Arsenal in the summer of 2026, when his contract expires at the Emirates Stadium.
As such, Chelsea appear to have landed a knockout blow to two of their rivals.

Eduardo Burgos tweeted: “Chelsea take the lead for Huijsen.
“Talks are underway with his agent, Ali Barat, but nothing has been finalised yet.
“Real Madrid and Liverpool are almost out of the running. Los Blancos don’t see the possibility of paying his release clause.”
The message is clear: Huijsen could very well become a Chelsea player in a matter of weeks.
