Romano announces MORE good news for Liverpool after Salah signs new contract

Liverpool announced Mohamed Salah’s new contract on Friday to the delight of the Anfield supporters, and that news has been quickly followed up by another thrilling transfer update from Fabrizio Romano.
There was genuine concern at Liverpool that they might lose Salah to the Saudi Pro League as a free agent this summer, while similar concerns have been raised over Virgil van Dijk.
Romano has confirmed, though, that the Netherlands international is poised to announce his decision to stay at Anfield.
“Virgil van Dijk will sign his new deal at Liverpool valid until June 2027 very soon, agreement done,” Romano tweets.
“All details of the contract have been sealed, also approved by the lawyers and VVD will put pen to paper before end of the season.
“Two more years. Salah and Virgil, confirmed.”
On the other hand, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future looks increasingly like it will be at Real Madrid, with the England right-back the third Liverpool superstar out of contract in June.

Salah and Van Dijk remain key players
Although both Salah and Van Dijk are in their 30s, they have provided the backbone of Arne Slot’s side, which is set to lift a second domestic title of the Premier League era.
Salah is the runaway top scorer in the Premier League this season with 27 goals, while Van Dijk continues to be a force in the heart of the Reds’ defence, which is the second strongest in the league, having conceded only 30 times.
Indeed, the ongoing quality of the Dutchman is remarkable given that he suffered a serious knee injury in the 2019/20 campaign that many critics felt he would not fully recover from.
Although he lost some of his explosive speed, he has made up for that with his tactical awareness, while his qualities of a leader at Anfield remain unrivalled.
Romano’s report that Van Dijk will soon follow Salah in committing his final peak years to Liverpool will, therefore, be warmly welcomed by those around Anfield, who head into the summer in a party mood.
