CONFIRMED: Huge Liverpool star leaves Anfield as ‘irreversible’ decision made

Liverpool may have seen Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk commit their futures to the club, but it still promises to be busy summer of transfers for Arne Slot’s side, with one major star now confirmed to be departing Anfield.
Darwin Nunez will leave the Merseyside outfit at the end of the season, according to Fichajes, which claims that it is “confirmed” the Uruguay international will be moving on.
Nunez is set to depart a favourite of the Liverpool fans, despite a campaign in which he has thus far contributed only seven goals and seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
It is claimed that talks have been held in the Liverpool boardroom in recent months, and while there were periods in which it appeared that he might be able to remain at Slot’s side, recent movement behind the scenes means that the decision for him to depart is “irreversible”.
Nunez is liable to move abroad, with numerous European clubs examining his profile.

Liverpool trying to limit Darwin Nunez damage
Liverpool are set to take a sizeable transfer loss on the 25-year-old, who remains their record signing after they spent an initial €75 million to sign him from Benfica in 2022 – a figure since swollen to €85m due to bonus payments. Had the deal turned out ideally, the Reds might have paid up to €100m for the striker.
Now with an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €59.7m, it’s all about limiting the financial damage for the Reds.
Rumours suggest that there is interest from the Saudi Pro League in the striker, yet reports from Spain indicate that Nunez would prefer a move to Atletico Madrid. He previously turned out for Almeria, where he scored 16 goals in 30 LaLiga2 matches before moving to Benfica, but he has never played top-flight football in the country before.
Nunez was not involved in Liverpool’s most recent Premier League match with West Ham United, suggesting that he will be lucky to get too many more minutes under Slot.
