Liverpool gift Salah a €150m sidekick after mega new contract

Liverpool secured the future of Mohamed Salah on Friday as the attacker signed a new two-year deal and now the Anfield club are setting about the task of finding him a striker worthy of his talents.
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak is the Reds’ priority target and they are willing to pay up to €150 million to secure the Sweden international, sources close to the Merseyside club have told Fichajes.
It claims that initial contact has already been made between the clubs, with Liverpool ready to smash their transfer record to secure the signature of the 25-year-old.
Liverpool target exciting new signings
The Reds are moving into phase two of the summer transfer project, having also secured a new contract for Virgil van Dijk, which is sealed but not yet official.
Having secured what they already have, they are now seeking to upgrade problem areas – and that means finding a suitable centre-forward to work alongside Salah, whose contract renewal was the news all Reds were dreaming of.
Darwin Nunez has wholly failed to live up to his €85m price tag while Diogo Jota has struggled for both fitness and form this season.
Between them, they have just 11 league goals for the season - and that’s despite having the Premier League’s best assist creator in Salah to feed off.
The Egyptian has taken more than his share of the offensive burden this season, but this reliance on the 32-year-old is a major concern should his form dip even marginally.
Isak is seen as that player, having scored 20 Premier League goals this season.
The Isak ‘problem’
Newcastle are likely to resist this approach.
Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Arsenal consider him the dream target but it’s not an easy one. Liverpool have made some contact too.
“But the problem in this case is Newcastle. They’ll make life very difficult to any club interested in Isak because they want to keep the player. It will take a big, big proposal. They want to keep the player. They see Isak as part of the club next season. To change this would take something completely crazy.”
Isak’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has shot up off the back of his excellent season, with the striker now posting a figure of €119.4m.
Liverpool are now set to test the Magpies' resolve with a €150m mega bid.
