Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is in talks with ambitious Saudi club NEOM SC, according to a report.

The Cameroon international is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford after two error-strewn seasons. The Man Utd hierarchy is split on Onana, with head coach Ruben Amorim said to have already lost faith in the shot-stopper.

Meanwhile, others at the club believe that Onana should be given another chance, considering that he was an investment of over €50 million. Additionally, they feel that Man Utd have different and more pressing priorities this summer than signing a new goalkeeper.

Speculation surrounding the future of Onana is rampant, and Foot Mercato has now come out with a bombshell report on the 29-year-old. The French outlet claims that Onana is 'open' to leaving Man Utd this summer.

What's more, it is asserted that the goalkeeper is already 'in talks' with second-tier Saudi side NEOM SC, who will play in the Pro League next season after recently winning promotion.

Onana in talks with NEOM SC

NEOM SC hail from the quiet town of Tabuk but are notorious for being probably the wealthiest club in the history of football, backed as they are by the eponymous urban project.

The planned city of Neom is slated to be completed by 2039 and is estimated to command a total cost of almost $9 trillion. The city is set to become a new cultural and economic hub of the country, and as such, it needs a successful sports team - or so the thinking goes.

To that end, a bunch of money has been pumped into NEOM SC, and several ambitious transfers have already been pulled off. The investment is certainly bearing fruit so far given that they have already won relegation to the top flight.

The above-mentioned report claims that Onana is open to moving Saudi Arabia, having already fielded interest from the country before joining Man Utd in 2023. Talks between the two parties are described as 'major,' but a deal does not appear to be close at this stage.
