In fact, The Daily Mail claim that Man Utd are “very close” to signing the Brazil international as they look to complete a major overhaul of their attacking roster.

In addition to Cunha, Man Utd are also hoping to purchase Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, with the pair set to cost a combined €108 million (£92.5m) due to release clauses in their respective contracts.

Rasmus Hojlund has been tipped to return to Italy in order to make way for Delap, while Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony will all be sold to fund a move for Cunha this summer, as per The Mirror.

Matheus Cunha to join Man Utd

News of Cunha’s imminent move to Man Utd follows his recent admission that he wants to leave Wolves in order to join a club who will compete for the biggest trophies in football.

“I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential,” he told The Guardian in March.

Cunha has scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at a career high of €62.6m - the ninth highest of any Brazilian player in world football.
