New deals ANNOUNCED: Salah and Van Dijk staying at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have both agreed to sign new Liverpool contracts, Fabrizio Romano has announced.
The pair, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, are out of contract at the end of the season and there had been very real fears that the Reds could see all three depart as free agents.
But Salah and Van Dijk have both turned down offers from the Saudi Pro League and are now ready to sign new two-year agreements with the Anfield club.
Romano announced the huge news via his YouTube channel.
“Liverpool are set to complete the agreement with Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk to stay at the club with a new contract. The here we go is coming,” the football transfer news expert said. “It’s down to the final details of the contract then it’s going to be time for the paperwork. We are at the very end of the process.
“Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah will be ready to sign a new contract at Liverpool at any moment. It’s a massive update because both them had important proposals.
“The agreement between Van Dijk and Salah with Liverpool will run until 2027.

“Richard Hughes has been the crucial figure. He’s been working a lot behind the scenes on these two cases.
“Despite the panic with some public statements from Mo Salah and Van Dijk saying there is no update, there is no progress, some fans were maybe losing faith in the club. But the project has always been clear: reach an agreement with Salah and Van Dijk and try to the end with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“Richard Hughes has delivered. Now the agreement is done with Van Dijk and Salah. It wasn’t easy because Liverpool had to fight once again after two years ago and now again with the Saudi Pro League.”
Saudi threat seen off
Romano went on to explain the details of Saudi’s interest in Liverpool players, indicating that huge proposals were ready for both Van Dijk and Salah had they been open to receiving such offers.
“Saudi wanted Liverpool players in January. They wanted Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and these two cases could be interesting for them in summer. I expect Nunez to leave Liverpool in the summer and Diaz to be an interesting case because Saudi are still there.
“But for Van Dijk they were also interested and offered him an important package of money. But he decided to commit to Liverpool. Keeping a player like him is instrumental for the project. Arne Slot is super happy about it. The leaders of this team are absolutely needed because Liverpool will have many changes in the summer.
“Saudi were more than aggressive for Mo Salah. They were prepared to offer him crazy money – not exactly the same amount that they would like to offer Vinicius Junior – but close to that. So Saudi were prepared to attack with a very big proposal.
“Salah has been super respectful with Liverpool because behind the scenes he was never advancing in the negotiations with Saudi or with European clubs. But he wanted an important contract. Now they’ve been able to reach an agreement.”
With Salah and Van Dijk signing new contracts, Liverpool have solved two very big issues ahead of the summer transfer market, even if Trent remains destined to leave for Real Madrid.
